In recent weeks, there’s been a lot of buzz about Garmin’s upcoming Fenix 8 and Instinct 3, fueled by leaks and speculation, though nothing official has been confirmed. However, there’s been a noticeable lack of information regarding another anticipated release: the Garmin Venu Sq 3. Despite the absence of leaks or official announcements, examining Garmin’s release history suggests that this square smartwatch might be nearing its debut.
Garmin generally prefers round watch designs, but the Venu Sq series caters to those who favor a square look. While I may not personally prefer square watches, many people do, and Garmin’s strategy of offering this design allows them to compete with other square-faced smartwatches and expand their product lineup. Not everyone opts for the Apple Watch, and Garmin’s timepieces have their own dedicated user base.
Looking at Garmin’s release pattern for the Venu series:
– Venu: September 5, 2019
– Venu Sq: September 23, 2020
– Venu 2: April 22, 2021
– Venu 2 Plus: January 4, 2022
– Venu Sq 2: September 1, 2022
– Venu 3: August 30, 2023
It’s evident that Garmin releases a new Venu Sq model every two years, roughly one year after a new Venu model. If Garmin maintains this pattern, we can expect the Venu Sq 3 to launch in early September 2024. My prediction is that it could be arriving in about a month and a half.
