Apple has recently introduced its new iPad lineup after a two-year break. Now, a recent leak hints that Apple might be working on future models, including the 7th generation iPad Mini and the 11th generation base iPad. The leak indicates that the upcoming iPad Mini could feature the A17 chipset, which is also used in the iPhone 15 Pro models, while the base iPad might be equipped with an A16 chip.
Leaked iPad Models
A post on X (formerly Twitter) by @aaronp613 revealed that Nicolás Álvarez discovered identifiers for 14 iPad models. Of these, six are reported to have been cancelled by Apple. The cancelled models include two base iPads with A14 chips and four iPad Pro models (11-inch and 13-inch) with M3 chips, which were later replaced with M4 chips at the ‘Let Loose’ event in May.
The leak also suggests Apple could introduce up to eight new iPad models. One identifier is linked to a potential 11th generation iPad, which might feature the A16 SoC and come with both Wi-Fi and Cellular options.
Another identifier is associated with the 7th generation iPad Mini, which may include the 3-nanometre A17 Pro SoC, the same chipset used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPad (2022) and iPad Mini (2021) were released a few years ago, indicating it’s time for a refresh.
Though Apple unveiled new iPad Pro models in May, rumors suggest the company is developing the next generation of this tablet, possibly powered by an unannounced M5 chipset based on TSMC’s 2-nanometre process. This new iPad Pro is expected to come in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, with both Wi-Fi and Cellular options.
