The Redmi Pad Pro was launched in China in April with features including a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, a 10,000mAh battery with fast charging support, and a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD display. It was offered in various RAM and storage options with Wi-Fi connectivity. While it hasn’t yet been released in India, its debut seems imminent as it’s appeared on the Google Play Console. The upcoming 5G variant of the tablet has now been confirmed.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the Redmi Pad Pro 5G will support 5G SIM cards. The exact launch date is not yet known, but Jun mentioned that the 5G model will include a ‘network sync’ feature, allowing users to connect their phone’s hotspot to the tablet with a single tap. The design of the new model, as shown in the teaser, resembles the current Redmi Pad Pro, with similar color options and accessories such as a stylus, keyboard, and cover case, likely in shades like Dark Grey and Shallow Blue Bay. This suggests that the 5G variant will be quite similar to the Wi-Fi-only version apart from the added 5G capability.
Expected specifications for the Redmi Pad Pro 5G include a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 180Hz touch sampling rate, 600 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is anticipated to feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, a 10,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. The tablet will run on Android 14 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS.
