At its ‘Let Loose’ event earlier this month, Apple introduced the new iPad Pro featuring the M4 chip and the iPad Air lineup equipped with the M2 chip. The company has reportedly added a Battery Health menu to these 2024 tablets, similar to the one found in the iPhone 15 series. This new menu will provide optimized charging options and battery data, including the ability to limit the battery charge to 80 percent to extend its lifespan. The menu will also display information such as the battery cycle count. Signs of this feature first appeared in the iPadOS 17.5 code.
According to Dutch website iCulture (via Macrumors), this is the first time the Battery Health menu is available on iPads. Users can access it by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. The menu reportedly shows the charge cycle count, maximum capacity, and allows users to set the maximum charging level to 80 percent to enhance battery longevity and reduce risks of overheating and overcharging.
The Battery Health menu might also display the battery’s manufacturing date and the date it was first used. This feature, already available on the iPhone 15 series, was initially discovered in the iPadOS 17.5 beta code last month, enabling iPad users to check their battery’s maximum capacity without relying on third-party apps.
The iPad Air and iPad Pro models, unveiled last week, come in various display sizes. The iPad Air is available in 10.9-inch and 13-inch options with a Liquid Retina (LCD) screen, while the iPad Pro features a ‘Tandem OLED’ display in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. Both models run on iPadOS 17.
The price for the iPad Pro (2024) starts at Rs. 99,900 for the base 11-inch model, while the iPad Air (2024) starts at Rs. 59,900 for the base 11-inch version.
